Kenyan singer Willy Paul has called out event organizers and Diamond Platnumz's team, accusing them of sabotaging Kenyan artists at the Furaha City Festival. The concert, held at the Nairobi Polo Club on Saturday, December 7, 2024, left fans outraged after a series of chaotic incidents.

Willy Paul vs. Diamond’s Team: What Really Happened?

Drama unfolded when Willy Paul, one of Kenya’s most popular artists, was allegedly blocked from performing at the festival. Videos circulating online show fans chanting his name, demanding that he take the stage after Tanzanian star Zuchu was given a performance slot instead.

According to Willy Paul, the chaos was fueled by a last-minute change in the lineup, favoring Tanzanian artists over their Kenyan counterparts.

I’m being mistreated at the event. Wanaweka Tanzanians waperform. Wanachange vitu last minute. Why are Kenyans allowing this?” Willy Paul lamented on Instagram.

He eventually managed to perform, delivering a show-stopping set that had fans on their feet. But the damage had already been done.

Etana’s Concert Cancelled – Diamond Dragged Into the Controversy

The night wasn’t just a mess for Kenyan artists; even international acts were caught in the crossfire. Jamaican reggae star Etana had her Good Vibes Festival performance cancelled at the last minute. She later accused the organizers of sabotage and claimed Diamond Platnumz’s name had been mentioned during the chaos.

This is unacceptable,” Etana shared, expressing her disappointment in how the event was handled.

Fans React: “Kenyan Artists Deserve Respect!”

Fans have taken to social media to air their frustrations, accusing event organizers of prioritizing Tanzanian artists while sidelining homegrown talent.

One fan commented, “How do you invite Kenyan artists only to disrespect them? Willy Paul deserved better!”

Another added, “This favoritism towards Tanzanians needs to stop. Kenyan artists are just as good, if not better!

The Bigger Picture: A Call for Fair Treatment

The Furaha City Festival has sparked a heated debate about how Kenyan artists are treated in their own country. While Diamond Platnumz remains silent on the matter, the fallout from the event continues to grow.

As the dust settles, one thing is clear: Kenyan artists and their fans are demanding more respect—and they won’t be silenced.
